silver beet

a week of heavy rain, unusually hot spring weather and the garden has gone beserk!
Look at the size of the silver beet, I don't think it's ever been so big, and it hasn't even had it's chicken poo yet!

tomatoes

Great minds etc...was taking a look at the garden today and decided I have just the spot to try some tomatoes this summer, and then Sweetpea wrote about her tomato obsession, her perfect tomato is called 'brandywine' - I'll have to have a look for it.
My past tomato growing attempts have been a bit of a disaster, back when the children were young, they didn't trust my tomatoes, we had to cut them open and watch to make sure nothing was moving inside them, kept telling them it's all good protein but they didn't believe me.
My mum would say "if the bugs won't eat them, there must be something wrong with them!"

apropos nothing.....

I really hate cooking, I mean I *REALLY*...*HATE* cooking, which has always been hard to reconcile with the fact that I like eating - I cook because I have to, not for pleasure, so what ever possessed me to buy 1kg of ricotta cheese at the supermarket....I mean....1 whole KG for heavens sake!

Husband suggested I could make cheese pies (like mother used to!!)

Couldn't find a pie plate in the whole house that hadn't been used to mix paint when I suddenly remembered another of my impulse buys - a pie maker - another of those whatever possessed me moments, what did I think I was going to do with a pie maker - you can't even dye stuff in it!!!

So here it is - the first and most likely the last time you will see my cooking on this blog!

my avocado fixation

I have a problem...
(well, probably more than one)
I can't bring myself to throw away an avocado seed....
they are just so big and fecund and full of promise
